Till technology do us apart...

It is almost 10.30, Wednesday night. I am at my laptop checking mails, catching up with some blogs, and intermittently chatting to 2 friends one of which, incidently happens to be my husband as well... No, he is not away to the US on one of those 'short' month-long official trips. He is in the same house, the next room to be precise. Given the dimensions of my modest abode, it is not possible for him to be more than 25 feet away. Infact, but for the incessant blaring of the tv, I dont even need to shout to be heard. And yet, we chat.. Needless to say, none of us are working or doing anything even close to serious. I know for myself, and he cannot work even if he wants too, reason being straight, he has had no work for the last 4 weeks. He is most likely reading soccer news or some sports article on the web with ESPN running on the tv. Can't be playing one of those computer games else he would have been too busy to even chat. He sends me funny emoticons, and suggestive audibles, and I reply back with spunk. Nothing amiss there, normal playful bantering which makes this evening slighly more interesting. My little one comes to me, and tries to play piano notes on the delicate keypad. I send her to her father. She readily agrees since she knows he has a better laptop and departs. And now I see her going to her nanny with a grim ready-to-scream face.. looks like daddy also refused the budding musician much opportunity and access to his system. Poor kids, nobody really cares for their sentiments and never buys them anything that they really want.. It must be really tough being a kid. By Jove! My husband just got offline.. now, he shall be here any moment. I'll better sign off.. Good Night.

p.s. It really surprises me how technology successfully brings people from all walks of the world so close, and yet creates virtual distances between those closest!

Cute post. So you're on a techno spree these days? After your blog in the last post, looking for making other things hi-tech too? Anyways, the hi-tech foreplay looks as cute as the post ;)

So a serious afterthought post-posting.

Very true regarding the bringing-closer part of it, but I didn't get you on virtual distances between the closest? I've been getting closer to close ones only with the help of technology. And I guess everyone does that, isn't it?

I thought it is obvious, infact now I realise how important it was to put that after thought.. It is not an 'after thought', but the theme of the post. You probably did not notice, but it is not a cute post. It is a serious post where I regret not being able to sit close to my husband, hold his hands and see him laugh at his own silly jokes, just becoz' both of us r wired to our laptops. Offcourse you are no less, and that is why I guess you failed to realise :)

Well...I assumed it was an afterthought because 'the theme' was not there yesterday when the post was originally written. That was done post-posting as I said, very much the way you had turned your link violet in the last post.

And the way you described everything, the suggestive audibles, spunk, and playful bantering, it conveyed you actually liked it. Also, the post ended with signing off the IM and expecting real stuff; it all represented a happy sequence of events. Also, I know you are not the kinds who would regret and crib about this.

Exactly, it wasn't there yesterday becoz' I thought it was so very obvious.. It was only after your comment in the morning that I realised that the whole point that I have been trying to make, might get lost. And hence the ps.
But anyways, it is interesting to see a how something can be interpreted in an entirely different manner. That is what makes blogging so special!

Blimey !! The husband has "no work" and "I am at my laptop checking mails, catching up with some blogs, and intermittently chatting to 2 friends".

That is SERIOUS work, aint?

But this is a cute post - amazing that one can come up with this when one is so 'busy and exhausted' with pool, wfh and napping

:P

Chatting with your husband in the next room can be fun, and add to the expectations.

But I was surprised to see the conversation on the comments section. The post started off okay, but then went into fun and frolic mode, and the way the poor child gets ignored because you are too busy chatting with each other gives an impression you are really enjoying it.

Goodness! Are any of u married? I know one for sure :) Nobody finds it strange that a young couple sits 20 feet apart and chats over the net when they could be actually snuggle together, hold hands, talk and giggle. Also, ignoring such a charming baby as mine for an insipid laptop, sigh!

My husband just got offline.. now, he shall be here any moment. I'll better sign off.. This suggests a lot more things than snuggling were about to happen. Chatting did not prevent all of that, or did it? So, from my point of view, you had more playful bantering to do than the usual snuggling and giggling and so on and so forth. I mean, you never said chatting was a replacement to all that. I found that that was an extra, and something out of the normal, which is always exciting.

Oh, and did you neglect the charming child because of the laptop? I thought it was because of the chat going on on the laptop.

A very delayed response Indigo, excuse me for that. Well, no clarifications on the post, its been too long, but a small point regarding neglecting the child. My daughter is immensely fascinated by our laptops, and she doesn't consider it as fragile/to-handled-with-care. She often stands on the m/c, pulls out keys and does forced shutdowns. We neglect her, or at least pretend to for the well-being of our laptops. The she gets discouraged and leaves without causing much damage.
