A Golden Moment..

It is a moment which has the billion strong nation basking in a golden glory. India has won its first ever Olympic gold medal in an individual event, and the first since 1980. Abhinav Bindra has made us all so proud! It was just yesterday that I was thinking of writing a post on sports, and how both my father and husband were going gaga over the Olympics when there is hardly any hope for us, especially after the dismal performance of our shooters on the opening day itself. Procrastination is really not the big evil it is made out to be :)

I am sure each of us is feeling like a winner at this hour. India couldn't have asked for a better Independence Day gift!

Congratulations! It is, however, ironic to see us so proud of winning a gold in 28 years, from a nation of 1.2 billion, we ought to have won many more.

Did not get that bit about procrastination...

Hail Bindra!

Indigo - I second you!

Ashes - Had I written a post yesterday, it would have surely been critical of the Indian shooters, little knowing that in less than 20 hours from then, Mr Bindra would create history and force me to eat my own words. Procrastination saved me from that. As for the sole gold in 28 years, I guess thats what makes it so very special. I don't think USA, China, USSR and such nations would be that excited about their rich haul as we are about this one. I would rather revel in this one achievement than sulk over all our past failures.

Oh! I didnt know you were so interested in shooting that you were actually thinking of procrastinating a critical review on India's performance!

Ashes - I don't think you actually read the comment/post before replying to that one. Or probably I did not understand this one.

Errata: read shooting as olympics in my comment above.

I wasn't thinking of procrastination, rather ended up doing that due to other engagements yesterday. And my interest in Olympics did not play a role in that. I was not watching the games, rather a crappy movie. Also, as I mentioned in the post, the post yesterday was not about India's performance. It was intended to be personal, about my family's huge interest in Olympics despite the fact that we never win anything there.

Yes, the movie was ultimately crappy! 50 crores down the drain!

But yes, I mean now I agree, after being a joker here on your blog through three comments, that that crap combined with the big evil prevented you, but made me eat my own words :P
